Sheriff's office reports beginning June 22, 2001

August 19

6:25 a.m. - Derek L. Stone, Carey, was cited for failure to control after he was injured and his vehicle was severely damaged in a one-car accident. Stone was eastbound on TH 22 when he failed to stop at TH 95. His vehicle entered the intersection and then struck a utility pole. He was taken to Fostoria Community Hospital by Carey EMS and then LifeFlighted to Toledo Hospital.

8:10 p.m. - Pitt and Marseilles Township and Nevada fire departments responded to a garage fire at the Dennis Stansbery residence on Ohio 294 just west of US 23. According to the sheriff's report, the owner's son was in the garage working on his derby car with a plasma cutter which ignited a fire under the vehicle. The fire spread to the garage.

August 18

12:33 a.m. - John Williams, 52, Upper Sandusky, was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated, littering from a motor vehicle, and possession of an open contain of beer in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop. Williams was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Jose Espinoza who was charged with OMVI, no operator's license, and failure to drive in marked lanes after stopped by sheriff's deputies for a lane violation.

10:21 a.m. - Unwanted person call from Nevada.

10:25 a.m. - Accidental loss of tools from pick up reported.

4:45 p.m. - Jonathon D. Riddle, Harpster, was charged with failure to yield after the vehicle he was driving eastbound on TH 72 in Antrim Township attempted to cross the northbound lanes of US 23 and struck Charles A. McKenzie, Ontario. Riddle was not injured but McKenzie was taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital by Wyandot East with non-incapacitating injuries. Riddle's vehicle suffered functional damage, McKenzie's disabling damage.

9:17 p.m. - A report of threats to person or property at local campground resulted in the arrestby the Carey police department of a Fostoria man. 

11:55 p.m . - Bar fight reported at Marseilles Sportsman's Inn.

1:15 p.m. - Cory S. Kinn transported to Orient Correctional Facility after sentencing in Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas.

2:40 p.m. - Michael E. Stine, Tiffin, struck a deer as he travelled north on Ohio 67 in Crane Township. He was not injured, his vehicle sustained functional damage.

August 13

5:45 a.m. - Michael D. Slone, Upper, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign when, eastbound on CH 5, he failed to see the stop sign for Ohio 53. His vehicle travelled through the intersection and 150 feet into a field. He was taken by private vehicle to Wyandot Memorial.

11:59 a.m. - Report of diamond rings stolen from a CH 108 resident.

1:28 p.m. - ODOT reported a theft of a car battery from a state vehicle.

August 11

1:15 a.m. - Troy A. Baker, Marion, was charged with disorderly conduct in Marseilles.

8:30 p.m. - Violation of Civil Protection Order reported.

11:54 p.m. - Runaway.

August 10

11:54 a.m. - Crop damage by 4-wheelers along CH 28 east of CH 106 reported.

2:10 p.m. - When deputies stopped to investigate a vehicle pulled of the roadway along CH 121, they found Lindsey L Walter Jr., Columbus, and Altresia L. Boyd, Toledo, to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and crack cocaine. Walter was charged with driving under FRA suspension and advised further charges would be forthcoming.

6:20 p.m. - Dana J. Hotelling, 27, Carey, was arrested on a bench warrant out of Findlay Municipal Court.

9:44 p.m. - Report from Abbott's Auction House a a failure to pay.

August 9

1:45 a.m. - Open door at Wyandot Tractor, nothing disturbed.

3:55 a.m. - Aidas Frismantas, Illinois, was arrested for driving under suspension.

8:03 a.m. - Theft of trash can at Swartz Covered Bridge.

3:38 p.m. - Craig m. Walter, 37, Carey, was arrested on a warrant out of Fairfield County.

August 8

7:10 p.m. - Report of dog bite at Island View Campground in Ridge Township.

10:24 p.m. - Harrassment reported.

6:13 p.m. - House fire in Wharton. Wharton-Richland Fire Department brought fire at 112 N. Railroad Street under control. 

August 7

3:28 a.m. - Report of car egged in Nevada.

August 6

12:16 a.m. - Complaint of 4-wheeler in field in Tymochtee Township.

9:20 a.m. - Report of gazebo egged in Nevada.

11:53 p.m. - Trespassing and possible firearm violation in Killdeer.

August 5

2:46 a.m. - Reports of mailbox vandalism. Fourteen boxes were damaged along CH 44, TH 112, CH 106, and CH 4.

3:05 a.m. - Edward West ,18, Nevada, was arrested and charged with underage consumption, possession of drug paraphernalia, and contributing to the delinquency of a child after Wyandot County deputies found him and two 16-year old females behind the store in Marseilles early Sunday morning. Edward West, TH 133, Nevada, was released on his own recognizance, the two juveniles were charged with curfew violation, underage consumption, and their charges forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.

5:15 p.m. - Marijuana apparently ready for sale was turned over to the sheriff's office after being found at the Sto-Away Lockers. Owners may claim at the sheriff's office.

6:11 p.m. - Call for service regarding a possible fight in Nevada.

August 4

1a.m. - Leo Elwood, Wharton, was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and open container in public.

1:04 a.m. - Tracy A. Prater, 30, Forest, was found with an open container of beer in the bed of a pickup at the Sportsman's Inn, Marseilles.

1:44 a.m. - Daniel L. Miller, 39, LaRue, was questioned for an open container in a minivan at the Marseilles Sportsman's Inn, and arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Miller was also found to have two open warrants out of Fairborn Ohio.

1:45 a.m. - Lisa A. Sloan, 35, Columbus, was arrested for driving under suspension related to the incident above.

4:19 p.m. - Jason A. Harp, Bloomville, was arrested for driving under suspension, OMVI, and driving left of center after a traffic stop in Crane Township.

11 a.m. - Phoenix L. Barr, 25, Morral, was cited for driving under FRA suspension. 

11:24 a.m. - Prank call regarding B&E in Nevada.

3:35 p.m. - Betsy L. Giles, 16, Harpster, was cited for failure to control after the car she was driving eastbound on TH 141 left the roadway, striking several trees. She was not injured but the car received disabling damage.

4:04 p.m. - Theft of cell phone reported. Mifflin Township.

8:04 p.m. - Jeffery D. Perin, 28, Upper Sandusky, was charged with disorderly conductand transported to his home after he was found walking along CH 119.

August 3

12:43 a.m. - Criminal Trespass on Indian Mill grounds. Four adults were warned regarding open containers and indecent exposure. 

6:38 p.m. Joshua Traxler, 18, Carey, was charged with failure to yield after he struck a car driven by a Silver Springs, Maryland. Traxler was southbound on CH 97, crossing US 23, when he hit the other vehicle, which was in the southbound lane of US 23. A passenger in the vehicle was taken by EMS to WMH.

11 p.m. - Motor vehicle misuse in Carey.

August 2

Noon - Dana L. Kincade Jr. 25, Galion, was arrested on a warrant out of Upper Sandusky Municipal Court for failuer to appear for incarceration and failure to pay fine and costs. He was returned to the sheriff's office to begin serving his jail sentence.

2:40 p.m . - Harassment complaint in Nevada.

5:20 p.m. - 911 hang-up verification

8:33 p.m. - Golf cart/vehicle accident at Bob's Golf Course, rural Carey. 

11:33 p.m. - Two marijuana plants located in a cornfield along CH 136 just north of CH 39 by sheriff's deputy were confiscated and destroyed.

August 1

3 a.m. - Brenda K. Stansbery, Sycamore, was eastbound on CH 71 when her vehicle struck a deer. Functional damage was done to the vehicle. 

1:35 p.m. - Vandalism to rabbit and chicken cages in Crane Township.

4:22 p.m . - Blue Cadillac believed to be driven by a Nevada juvenile was reported to have left the roadway, run through a cornfield, then back onto the road. Another caller reported same vehicle had tried to run him off the road, while a third caller reported the driver harassing pedestrians and hanging out the car window. 

5:20 p.m. - A Nevada juvenile driving a blue Cadillac was cited for failure to control after non-functional damage was done to the vehicle he was driving when it left Ohio 182 on the right side of the road, reentered the roadway only to drive off the left side and through 130 feet of corn before leaving the scene. 

7:19 p.m. - Lost cell phone reported in Crawford Township. 

July 31

2:41 - Mailbox vandalism. Two men and three juvenile males were eventually arrested for vandalizing 59 mailboxes early Tuesday morning July 31.

10 a.m. - Domestic problem.

1:57 p.m. - Noise problems with truck drivers using jake brakes (engine brakes) on CH 4.

Noon - Amber L. Kennedy, 22, rural Upper, was cited for failure to control following a one car accident in which she lost control of her vehicle and hit the sign for Brownstown on Ohio 67. Neither she nor a passenger in her vehicle were injured. 

July 30

6:15 p.m. - Concern for children in Wharton. 

7:07 p.m. - Complaint of CPO violation.

July 29

9:55 a.m. - Nuisance phone calls reported

9:56 a.m. - Mailbox damage reported in Hardin County. Two boxes were found damaged in this county, on CH 70 and CH 215.

11:10 a.m. - Mailbox damage and threatening phone calls at a rural Forest residence.

12:06p.m. - Unruly juvenile.

2:30 p.m. - Domestic violence, no charges filed by husband. 

8:08 p.m. - Call from Seneca County regarding stolen flags from a business. Suspects were seen heading south out of Tiffin on Ohio 53.Vehicle was spotted by WCSO deputy and stopped just before CH 4. Driver admitted taking the flags. Tiffin police arrived and took two of the four into custody; the other two followed in the vehicle. 

8:25 p.m. - No injuries were reported in a two-car minor accident in Sycamore Township. MaKenzie R. Gagon, Sycamore, turned left off CH 36 into Paul Lininger's vehicle as he pulled from a stop sign at CH 136. 

July 28

2:39 a.m. Billy J. Gardner, 33, Carey, was arrested for OMVI, speeding, left of center, and fleeing/eluding after a short pursuit in Upper Sandusky.

3:32 a.m. - Anthony M. Altman, 21, Upper, was arrested for disorderly conduct after officers were called to a rural Carey home.

9:51 a.m. - Family domestic problem in McCutchenville.

12:20 p.m. - Welfare check on child

8:49 p.m. - Property damage by motor vehicle after domestic situation in Tymochtee Township.

July 27

12:02 a.m. - Bruce Mollenkopf, Nevada, during a traffic stop for a stop sign violation, was issued a citation for an open container of beer. 

3 a.m. - Brian Dean was eastbound on TH 11 when his vehicle struck a deer that had entered the roadway. He was not injured, the vehicle sustained functional damage. 

1:22 p.m. - Possible B&E at Marseilles Gun Club. Officer found the building secure, nothing disturbed.

2:28 p.m. - Vehicles driven by Monica Wentz, Carey, and Thomas Kin, rural McCutchenville, suffered functional damage after Wentz's vehicle struck Kin's at the intersection of CH 5 and US 23 in Crawford Township. Wentz was cited for failure to yield. Neither was injured.

10:19 p.m. - Concern for children's welfare call.

July 26

11:20 a.m. - Kenneth David Tucker Jr., 28, Upper, was arrested on a juvenile courtwarrant for failure to obey court orders for child support. He was later released when the child support enforcement agency contacted the sheriff's office to report they have received payment. 

12:32 a.m. - Angela J. Bowden, 29, Larue, was arrested for failure to appear for a court date on a littering charge. She was transported to Forest and picked up by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office.

3:15 p.m. - Ronald Huffman, rural Upper, reported the theft of a 1942 M-Farmall tractor, Stihl chain saw, weed eater, and battery charger from a shed. Total value, $2,550.

4:35 p.m. - Neither Mary Freeman, Pandora, nor Cindy Drill, Perrysburg, were injured in an accident Thursday when Freeman sideswiped Drill's vehicle as each was southbound on US 23 near TH 103 in Crawford Township.Freeman's vehicle struck Drill's when Freeman attempted to change lanes. She was charged with changing lanes without regard.

10:44 p.m. - Complaint of improper touching.

July 25

12:56 a.m. - Breaking and entering at Lovell Market. Cigarettes and beer were stolen, as was the front of a pop machine. 

2:07 a.m. - Suspicious persons in Wharton.

10:03 a.m. - Complaint that a lawn ornament had been moved (unharmed) from a yard to a flower box in front of the bank in Wharton. 

10:22 a.m. - Complaint of trespassing and criminal damaging in Crawford. 

7:38 p.m. - Derrick T. Adams, 28, Bucyrus, arrested on a bench warrant out of Crawford County after he was stopped for a stop sign violation at Ohio 182 and Malabar Drive. Adams was released to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

10:42 p.m. - Michael L. Hopper, 46, and James G. Moyers, 39, both of Indiana, were taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Hopper with incapacitating injuries and Moyer with non-incapacitating injuries, after Hopper attempted to pass a semi-truck on US 30 in Salem Township, saw an oncoming vehicle, and swerved back into Moyer's motorcycle. Hopper's motorcycle left the left side of US 30, while Moyer's struck the oncoming vehicle, driving by Richard W. O'Neil, 34, Kirby. O'Neil was not injured and his vehicle received non-functional damage. Both motorcycles were received disabling damage.

July 24

11:39 a.m. - An attempted breaking and entering was reported at a rural Carey home. 

3:25 p.m. - Oil from a machine removed from the A.O. Smith Company leaked onto Ohio 53.

3:40 p.m. - Littering problem in Nevada.

3:50 p.m. - Dog bite reported in Nevada.

4:36 p.m. - Theft of money from wallet reported by Wharton man. 

9:02 p.m. - Assault in Wharton reported by rural Carey woman. 

10:20 p.m. - Robert D. Lawrence II was arrested by the Forest Police Department on three bench warrants out of Upper Sandusky Municipal Court for failure to appear and turned over to the WCSO.


July 23


3:35 a.m. - Break-in at Buck's Place, Nevada. Two suspects who crawled through a front window and exited through a rear door with beer they'd stolen from the business were apprehended after the K-9 unit tracked them to the home of one of the juveniles involved. Both were questioned and admitted to the break-in as well as to taking beer, and were placed under house arrest.

11 a.m. - Tony Friess was transported from Lima Correctional Institution to the Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas for a change of plea hearing regarding complicity in a breaking and entering of Hilzy's Tavern, Carey.After pleading no contest, a pre-sentence investigation was ordered and bond set at $5,000 in the event Friess is released from prison before sentencing on this charge.

12:25 p.m. - Robert Rodi, Lima, struck the left rear tire of a semi-truck when he attempted to change lanes to exit US 23 south for US 30. No injuries were reported.

8:09 p.m. - A rural Upper resident reported that a young man hanging out of a car window threw an object at his vehicle as the two cars passed on Ohio 67 south of Sycamore. The car was an early dark-colored 1980s Mercury which then headed north on CH 35 toward McCutchenville.

8:30 p.m. - Sheriff's officers responded to a report of grain burning at the Wharton Elevator. Wharton Fire responded and extinguished the fire.

July 22

6:49 a.m. - Complaint by a Ch 95 resident in Jackson Township that an unwanted person was on his property. 

9:24 a.m. - Complaint from a Sycamore resident regarding another resident and his loose puppy.

1:53 p.m. - Complaint of a theft from an unlocked vehicle in rural Carey. 

8 p.m. - Complaint of unruly juveniles in Sycamore. One juvenile, already on probation, was taken into custody, and other charges could follow.

8 p.m. - Timothy S. Wilczynski, Maumee, was charged with possession of marijuana by the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office following the above investigation into an unruly juveniles complaint. Wilczynski was at the Sycamore home at the time, and following a search of the home and his car by Flash, the county's drug dog, he was cited.

11:55 p.m. - Suspicious vehicle reported near McCutchenville Race Track. 

July 21

2:43 a.m. - Chad Hall, 23, Kenton, was charged with possession of marijuana following a traffic stop by the OSP on CH 108 in Salem Township.

4 a.m. - Tyler and Alexandria Spears received, respectively, non-incapacitating and possible injuries in a one-vehicle accident on TH 46 in Richland Township. Tyler Spears swerved to avoid an animal in the road, lost control, and struck a tree. He was cited for failure to control, the vehicle received disabling damage.

2:30 p.m. - Complaint of newly-surfaced road torn up by drivers doing "burnouts" and doughnuts up and down TH 42 west of CH 91 in Richland Township. 

July 19


12:03 a.m. - Report of five-six mailboxes damaged along TR 40.

2:42 a.m. - Paul Fay III, Findlay, arrested for OMVI, reckless operation, and DUS after deputies observed his vehicle speeding on two different streets in Upper Sandusky.

6:29 a.m. - Luke Tucker was taken to WMH with possible injuries by Upper EMS after a one vehicle accident on Ohio 67. Tucker was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle hit a utility pole, overturned, and came to rest on its wheels. He was charged with failure to control. 

10 a.m. - Somsak Souaysanga, Carey,was served with an indictment for receiving stolen property, felony vandalism, and felonious assault (all felonies). Souaysanga is currently serving a sentence for misdemeanors at the Wyandot County Jail.

11:10 a.m. - Cindy L. Pitt, 31, Bucyrus, was transported from the Marysville reformatory for a judicial release hearing at which she was granted judicial release.

12:03 p.m. - Angie L. Henicle, 21, Upper, was arrested on an indictment for felony possession of cocaine and was incarcerated in the county jail pending a court appearance.

1:16 p.m. - Latictia L. Drummond, 30, Tiffin, was transported from a half-way house to the Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas for sentencing on a forgery charge. Her 11-month sentence will run concurrent with a previous sentence, and she was returned to the half-way house.

3 p.m. - Sophronia A. Legge-Hipsher, 22, Kenton, was arrested on a warrant of indictment for illegal processing of drug documents. Hipsher was arrested in Hardin County and turned over to Wyandot County Sheriff's personnel. She was jailed pending a court appearance. 

3:27 p.m. - Brian W. Hoenicke, 42, Wharton, was arrested on a warrant of indictment on a charge of gross sexual imposition following an investigation by the county sheriff and prosecutor's offices.

Charles R. Patrick, 27, Fostoria, was turned over to Wyandot County Sheriff's officers by Seneca County, by reason of a bench warrant from the Upper Sandusky Municipal Court for failing to comply with a court order. 

July 18

10:07 p.m. - Brooke McCleary, Upper, struck a moped operated by Korey M. Newell, Upper as the two were westbound on Ohio 67 in Crane Township. Newell was taken to WMH by Upper EMS with non-incapacitating injuries. 

July 17

5:50 a.m. - Daniel L. Clark, Upper, was southbound on Ohio 67 in Mifflin Township when his vehicle struck an eastbound deer. Clark was not injured.

11:08 a.m. - Open burning/large fire reported at a TH 49 residence in Richland Township. Due to closeness of fire to buildings, Wharton Fire Department was paged at 12:01 p.m. 

11:31 a.m. - Mailbox damage reported along Ohio 53 in Tymochtee Township.

12:42 p.m. - Richard Ziegler, Harpster, was cited for failure to yield after his eastbound vehicle struck a northbound car on US 23 at the US 23/Ohio 294 intersection. No injuries were reported. 

1:58 p.m. - Randy Young reported a breaking and entering of his trailer and a stolen gun. 

2:35 p.m. - JerryR. Walter Sr., was not injured when his car was struck by a truck driven by Lisa Schoenfeld, Tiffin. The accident occured when Schoenfeld failed to yield from a stop sign on CH 47 at Ohio 199. She was cited for failure to yield.

4:06 p.m. - Sheriff's deputies on routine patrol found and confiscated six marijuana plants in a cornfield in Sycamore Townshop.

6:40 p.m. - A Findlay man called to report reckless operation on US 23. When deputies investigated they found and cited John A. O'Conner, 61, Michigan, asleep in his vehicle at the southbound rest stop on US 23. He was charged with OMVI and no operator's license.

5:49 p.m. - Report by mother of juvenile girl's threats to her son, a repeat incident.

July 16

8:25, 8:54, 9:45, 10:42 a.m. and 6:04 p.m. - Report of mailboxes damaged in Tymochtee Township along TH 30; Mifflin Township along CH 103; Jackson Township along TH 63;Mifflin Township along TH 103, and Mifflin Township along CH 58.

10:51 p.m . - Two juvenile males were cited for curfew violations in Sycamore. 

July 15

2:14 a.m. - A traffic stop in Pitt Township led to the arrest of Aaron C. Wuescher, 19, Richwood for underage consumption. 

3:44 p.m. - Jack R. Walton, rural Nevada, was arrested on a Seneca County misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on a traffic citation. He was turned over to Seneca County Sheriff's deputies.

9:37 p.m. - Car-deer accident reported by a Bucyrus woman. The accident occurred in Antrim Township and caused only minor damage to the car, no injuries to its occupants. 

July 14 

1:40 a.m. - Michael Devore, 21, Wharton, was arrested on a Hancock County warrant and turned over to authorities there. 

7:49 p.m. - Property dispute.

9:20 a.m.- Damage to a parked vehicle was reported by a Sycamore Township man when he accidentally backed his truck into a car parked in his driveway.

10:59 a.m. - Missing/lost cell phone reported.

12:52 a.m . - Damage to vehicle and possible domestic problems reported.

3:25 p.m. - Possible breaking and entering in Sycamore.

10:15 p.m. - Possible harassment investigated.

10:43 p.m. - Following a single vehicle accident in Sycamore, Craig L. Miller was charged with OMVI and failure to control. 

10:44 p.m. - Investigation into 4-wheelers illegally on roadway.

July 13

9 a.m. - Scott Nye, 23, Upper was transported by Wyandot County deputies to CROSSWAEH to serve a sentence imposed by the Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas.

10:50 a.m. - Duane Brodman, rural Upper Sandusky, was taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital by New Riegel EMS following a one-car accident on CH 3 in Crawford Township.Brodman swerved to avoid an animal in the road, slid off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole. His vehicle then spun around into a cornfield.

8:47 p.m. - Theft of firearm from a Wharton residence reported. 


July 11

6:25 a.m. Disagreement between Upper Sandusky resident and Humane Society over a dog in the Humane Society's possession. The dog was turned over to the county dog warden who returned it to the owner.

July 10

9:02 a.m. - Sheriff's deputies transported Dusty Sweitzer from the county jail to CROSSWAEH in Seneca County as per court order.

10:50 a.m. - An ODOT mower struck a Columbia Gas Service line on Ohio 294 near CH 130. The line was temporarily repaired pending the arrival of gas company employees to shut off the gas and make a permanent repair.

6:30 p.m. - Javier Alejandro was cited for failure to control and no operator's license after a one-car accident in Marseilles Township. Alejandro was northbound on TH 108 when he lost control of the vehicle on the stone road. The car struck a stop sign at the intersection of 108 and CH 71, breaking the signpost.

July 9 

12:20 p.m. - No injuries were reported in a two-car accident just after noon Monday. A car driven by Joshua Shulaw, Upper Sandusky, rear-endeda truck driven by Earnest Nared, Mansfield causing functional damage to both vehicles.

Both vehicles were westbound on TH 140 in Antrim Township when Shulaw failed to stop in time to avoid hitting Nared's truck. Shulaw was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.

12:56 p.m. - Three mailboxes along CH 43 in Eden Township were reported damaged sometime Sunday night.

5:02 p.m.- A rural Sycamore woman complained that a former landlord had taken items she had left in the house after her lease ended June 1. She was advised her complaint was a civil matter.

July 8

6:15 p.m.- Two people were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Upper Sandusky EMS following an accidenton CH96 in Marseilles Township Sunday. Nathan Dillard, Kenton, was northbound on CH 96 near TH 71 when his vehicle left the roadway on the right, then veered across the road striking a ditch embankment on the left.Injuries to Dillard and a passenger, Aaron Shaffer, Kenton, were described as non-incapacitating, and disabling damage was done to the vehicle.

July 7

4 a.m. - Vandalism to vehicle reported by an Ohio 568 resident. As deputies investigated, a report of an accident in Carey was made. Carey police, along with sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene and Carey police apprehended the driver, Somsack Souaysanga, who allegedly tried to escape on foot. Souaysanga was charged with OMVI, resisting arrest, failure to comply, failure to control, with further charges possible.

7:30 a.m. - Sheriff's deputies arrested Donald J. Clark, 47, Upper, on a bench warrant issued in Fostoria Municipal Court for failure to appear. Clark was taken to the county line and turned over to Fostoria police.

11:12 a.m. - Breaking and Entering. The sheriff's office continues an investigation at the McCutchenville Speedway after caretakers there reported three buildings had been entered.An inventory of missing items is pending the owner's arrival. 

July 6 

11:47 a.m. - Report of nuisance phone calls.

7:32 p.m. - Report of reckless driver on US 30 in Eden Township. A Bucyrus man advised that an unknown person in a gray pickup tailgated him repeatedly before hitting the rear of his car and passing him. Sheriff's officers ran a check of the partial license plate.

July 5

4:48 a.m. - Minor accident due to deer/truck collision reported.

12:26 p.m. - Crane township resident report of vandalism to flag.

4:58 p.m. - Damage to a mailbox on CH 77 in Marseilles Township.

6:09 p.m. - Complaint of harassment/threat in Nevada, involving juveniles.

8:38 p.m. - Arrest of David Stahl, Calidonia, on a warrant issued out of Marion County Common Pleas Court. Stahl was arrested at Buck's Place, Nevada, where he works.

11:05 p.m . - Four people were taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospitalwith possible injuriesThursday after a one-vehicle accident on US 23 near CH 42. The driver, Latoya Terrell Hilton, N.C., swerved to miss a deer and lost control of her 1993 Honda Accord. The vehicle left the right side of the road, and came to rest after striking a tree. 

July 4

9:40 a.m. - Possible missing person, located shortly thereafter.

5:44 p.m. - Complaint of burning trash in Pitt Township.

July 3

1 a.m. - Non-functional damage was done to a vehicle driven by Dawn Leeth, Upper Sandusky, when it struck a deer on CH 62 in Pitt Township.

12:01 p.m. - Theft of urn from grave in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery

2 p.m. - Minor accident in parking lot at Armour Swift Eckrich facility, Nevada.

7:44 p.m.- Robert Pinion, 32, Oklahoma, was charged with a stop sign violation, failure to comply with order of a police officer (fleeing), and carrying a concealed weapon after he failed to stop for a stop sign in Nevada. A sheriff's deputy attempted to pull him over for the violation. Pinion eventually pulled over his vehicle on Ohio 182 west of Ohio 231. A loaded firearm was found inside his vehicle, and he was taken to the county jail pending a Thursday court appearance.

July 2

10 a.m. - Notice of bad check - charges drawn up.

2:55 p.m. - Carl Boden, Wharton, drifted left of center as he drove east on CH 4 in Crawford Township, causing oncoming driver Lucy Pahl, Findlay, to drive off the right side of the road to avoid hitting him. Pahl's vehicle struck a mailbox, and suffered non-functional damage. Boden's vehicle was not damaged, no injuries were reported.

7:21 p.m. - Report of near accident and reckless driving in Salem Township.

9:41 p.m . - Report of reckless driving, squealing tires, in Crane Township.

July 1


1:10 a.m. - Domestic call to a Crawford Township home.

1:16 a.m. - Injury accident and OMVI arrest. Carol Tiell, 36, Bellevue, was transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital after her vehicle, southbound on CH 97 in Crawford Township, left the roadway, rolled three times, landing on its top. She was ejected and her leg trapped under the pickup. Tiell was charged with failure to control and OMVI.

3:48 a.m. - Possible prowler on CH 111 in Crane Township reported. 

10:08 a.m. - Accident involving a 4-wheeler in Mifflin Township on private land at Bud Lake. A female was transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital. 

8:56 p.m. Breaking/Entering. A Nevada man advised of a June 28 breaking and entering and theft of lumber and tools.

June 30

12:38 a.m. - Deputies were called to Nevada to respond to a harassment complaint regarding men shooting firecrackers near and at residents.

1:47 p.m. - Carey Fire Department assisted in the cleanup of some fuel that leaked from a semi whose fuel filter housing was disengaged. The semi leaked fuel each time it stopped.

3:40 p.m. - Clay Wigle, Wharton, lost control of his motorcycle on wet pavement as he attempted to turn north off US 30 into a private drive in Salem Township. The cycle suffered non-functional damage; Wigle declined treatment for possible injuries. 

6:56 p.m. - Unruly juvenile call.

8:20 p.m. - Welfare check on a Ohio 294 resident.

10:03 p.m. - Complaint regarding fireworks in Nevada.

June 29

12:41 a.m. - Suspicious vehicle reported north of Carey.

9:18 a.m. - Semi reported missing since June 26. Semi returned to company later June 29.

3:17 p.m. - Farm combine caught lines at intersection of CR 70 and Ohio 294 and snapped two poles/lines. Electric and telephone service to a nearby residence were cut.

4:08, 5:28, and 6 p.m. - Mail box damage along CH 30, rural Sycamore. Seven mailboxes in the 3000-4000 stretch of CH 30 were damaged sometime Friday night.

3 p.m. - A motorcycle driven by Mark Parsell, rural Upper, was struck from behind by a Dodge Neon driven by Thomas Hayes, Duncan Falls. Parsell was northbound on Ohio 67 and slowed to turn right onto CH 47. Hayes failed to see the cycle. There were no injuries but disabling damage was done to the motorcycle and functional damage to the car.

11:08 p.m. - Suspicious people reported on Ohio 568 in fact were walking to from a disabled vehicle.  

June 28

10:35 a.m. - Sheriff's deputies transported Toby A. Friess to the Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas for a court hearing. Friess was returned to Lima Correctional after the hearing.

3 p.m. - Two potted marijuana plants were located after a tip from a landowner who found them in his cornfield.

5:46 p.m. - A woman reported her husband is making harassing phone calls to her at work, they are getting divorced. Seneca County was contacted to talk to husband at home, sheriff's deputies advised woman to contact them if husband comes to her place of employment. 

June 27


12:44 a.m.- Deputies transported Thomas R. Vanscoder from Marion to Wyandot County on a bench warrant issued by the Municipal Court for failure to pay court costs. 

3:45 a.m. - Functional damage to a 1993 Acura was reported after the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer on CH 55, only to strike a mailbox.

5:34 p.m . - Upper EMS transported Carl McKelvy, Kenton, to Hardin Memorial Hospital after the Triumph southbound motorcycle he was riding left the right side of CH 142. The cycle suffered disabling damage and McKelvy, who suffered non-incapcitating injuries, was charged by deputies with OMVI and failure to control. 

June 26  
5 a.m. - A semi-tractor trailer southbound on US 23 struck deer that had run into the roadway. The 1992 International Tractor suffered non-functional damage.

9:15 a.m. - Sheriff's deputies transported Chad Thomas, rural Upper, to the prison in Orient Ohio. Thomas was returned to prison for a probation violation.

10:50 a.m. - A shovel that fell from an ODOT vehicle damaged a 2000 Chevy Cavalier. The accident happened near Smithville Church on Ohio 67. 

11:05 - Deputies responded to a possible accident at CH 148 north of CH 16. Although a vehicle had left one side of the roadway before veering across to the other side and ending up in the ditch, the driver advised there were no injuries nor damage sustained. 

10:27 p.m. - Complaint of juveniles, who after being told not to ride bikes or skateboards on the Wharton tennis courts, possibly harrassed and possibly threatened the park caretaker.

11:53 p.m. - Possible civil protection order violation.

June 25

5:50 a.m. - One-car accident without injury. Driver was southbound on US 23 when he fell asleep and drifted off the right side of the road, striking a sign then coming to rest in the ditch. 

11:30 a.m. - Breaking/Entering of farm building. A CH 110 resident filed a report that someone had entered a building on his farm Friday evening and taken a circular saw and a sander. 

7:25 p.m.- Possible mail harassment

7:46 p.m. - Loose, possible menacing dog on Ohio 103 east of Sycamore. Owner arrived to secure dog.

June 24

1:58 a.m. - Suspicious person/vehicle at rural Crane Township residence on CH 107. 

2:55 a.m. - One-car accident involving deer. 1999 Ford truck owned by Karen Koehler and driven by Timothy Stever, Upper struck a deer on Ohio 199. No injury was reported.

8:39 p.m. - Accident in private drive. A rural Upper Sandusky resident called to advise a Ford Bronco had hit a utility pole along her drive. The driver advised he had bumped his head but was otherwise fine. 

8:57 a.m. Sunday - Three people were taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital Sunday morning following a one-car accident just before 9 a.m.Mary Ward, Forest, was eastbound on Ohio 53 near CH 96 when her van drifted off the right side of the road. She apparently overcorrected and drove left of center, then back off the right side of the road. The van overturned several times before coming to rest on its top.

June 23

1:04 a.m. - Report of female walking along CH 47 near 107. When officer arrived, she indicated that although she was homeless she was fine and was heading for Van Wert. 

1:06 a.m. - Possible prowlers were reported at a rural Upper address on CH 111. Deputies observed footprints in the grass but found no one.

8:25 a.m. - Breaking/Entering at the Johoval Witness hall on Ohio 53 west of Upper Sandusky. The alarm phone wires had been cut and the doors removed from the building when officers arrived. Missing were vacuum cleaners, a copier, and a sound system. The building had been ransacked.

8:53 a.m. - Attempted theft at a rural Harpster residence. Doors on a barn were found open but nothing taken, although a motorcycle ignition appeared to show signs of tampering.  

1:20 p.m. - Breaking/Entering of Mifflin Township home on CH 108. A residence at 11864 CH 108 was entered and ransacked sometime after 9 p.m June 22. Telephone lines to the residence were cut and a gun was stolen as was a television, an afghan, and several bottles of prescription drugs. All the outbuildings had been entered and a car stereo and speaker removed.

3:33 p.m. - Breaking/Entering in Nevada. Entry was made through a window and a door was left unlocked.

June 22

9:03 a.m. - 9070 Ohio 231, resident tampered with North Central Electric power box and received electric shock.

10:19 a.m. - Breaking/Entering in rural Sycamore 1610 Ohio 103 of a camper.

4:10 p.m. - Four wheelers driving through private yard in rural Upper Sandusky. Property owner advised sheriff's office he believes vehicles coming from Kirby along railroad tracks.

4:56 p.m. - Telephone harassment complaint

7:17 p.m. - Officer observed large trash fire in Tymochtee Township, owner advised had means to extinguish.

8:45 p.m. - Attempted theft at Scuth Drive-Thru. Landon C. Boyd, 20, Granville, and Andrew T. Hartfield, 20, Granville, were charged with underage consumption. Hartfield was also charged with petty theft for allegedly trying to take a 12-pack of beer . He was further detained after he allegedly attempted to steal a deputy's portable radio.
