Ohio gasoline prices have spurted to a new record high. The cost of regular has jumped by about 8 cents in 24 hours to Wednesday's statewide average of close to $3.48 per gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
Again, that's an average. Throughout Ohio, it's not difficult to find service stations selling regular for $3.59.
Ohio Auto Club spokeswoman Joanna Herncane (HURN'-kayn) says AAA believes prices could rise by another 25 cents over the next month, and gas of $4 per gallon isn't out of the question.
She says gas costs are soaring as investors push the price of oil closer to $120 a barrel.
If it's any consolation for Ohioans, gas is more expensive in every bordering state. West Virginia's average is about $3.63.
