Deficit Forcing Cuts At Tri-Rivers
03-21-2008

Tri-Rivers is working to cut almost a million dollars from their budget and early plans could include eliminating seven positions at the Career Center.

Superintendent Chuck Speelman had said before that the school would need to make cuts, even if the March 4th levy had passed. That levy, a 1-mill continuous improvement levy that would have team with the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission for renovations, was voted down.

The school faces a deficit of $55,000 next year and higher numbers in years to follow.

The seven positions will not necessarily be lay offs, as Tri Rivers is hoping to use retirements to solve some of the staffing issues.

The Board of Education will continue to investigate the suggestions.
