OSU President Suggests All Sophomores In Dorms
02-01-2008

Ohio State President Gordon Gee says he wants all 6,000 sophomore students to live in dormitories to help create a better learning environment.

A story from the AP says, Provost Joseph Alutto says studies at other schools show that on-campus students graduate quicker, have higher grades and are happier at school.

Ohio State requires freshmen to live on campus, but first-year students whose families are in the area can live at home. Under Gee's plan, sophomores would have the same exemption.

School officials say housing for at least 3,500 students would have to be added to accommodate sophomores. A study on the proposal is to be completed in 12 months.
