Congratulations on FSA County Committee Election
12-21-2011
Jerry Murphy has been reelected by voters in Richland, Salem, Crane and Eden townships to serve a final 3-year term starting January 1, 2012 on the Wyandot County Farm Service Agency farmer elected committee. Jerry is a 6-year incumbent on our committee and he operates a grain and livestock operation with corn, soybeans, wheat and Holstein feeder calves in Eden and Crane townships.

Currently serving are Connie Iles as county committee advisor; Chuck Bigler for Ridge, Crawford, Tymochtee, and Sycamore townships; and Jim Kin who represents Mifflin, Jackson, Marseilles, Antrim and Pitt townships. FSA committees administer USDA programs and make decisions regarding farm programs at the local level. USDA Department of Agriculture budget cuts have reduced the county committee usual monthly meetings to 4 quarterly sessions next year. After the election ballot count was confirmed on December 9, 2011, these representatives were administered 2012 Oath of Office reinforcing how farm program laws are applied. Their organizationa county committee meeting was held with Murphy being elected Chairperson and Bigler as Vice Chair. At this meeting, as well as at all meetings, procedural requirements which apply to those holding such a position are followed.

Wyandot county FSA committee will have an essential role in maintenance activities of USDA farm legislation. Decisions regarding participants' farm program yields and bases, eligibility for commodity and facility loans, matters on conservation compliance, various types of contract approvals, and program appeal determinations are some of the several responsibilities of the county FSA committee who are elected to serve their local agricultural peers.

FSA STAFF WISHES A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

FSA's office staff Vicki Orians, Brenda Blair, Rinda Kraus, Deb Mullholand, Brent Gottfried, Susan Sampson, with field technicians Joel Castanien, Dave Demler, Kelby Weaver and Loss Adjustment Contractor T. Dwain Sayre wish our customers and those associated with agriculture in Wyandot County a BLESSED CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR! We appreciate the amount of patience it takes to step through all the "red tape" participants are required with government programs, which are designed to lend a hand to not just farmers, but to consumers. USDA programs help in stabilizing agriculture's volatile economic environment which features both weather as well as market uncertainties. Farm programs also insure for all USA consumers a safe, abundant and affordable food, fiber, and fuel supply under our own country's control. Farm programs are not just for farmers.

USDA is an equal opportunity employer and provider.
