Doug Holbrook, Associate Professor of Business and Information Technologies was announced as the winner of the Fall 2009 Service Excellence Award at Marion Technical College. The Award is judged from student nominations of employees who they feel have gone above expectations to provide excellent service.
Holbrook was nominated by student, Mary Stover who receives a $200 scholarship for her thoughtful tribute.
In her nomination, Mary wrote (in part); “Doug Holbrook truly puts the student’s success first. In the two quarters that I have been in his class, he has demonstrated in many ways that he is truly concerned with making us succeed. Many times he has left his office to sit with us in the student lounge and explain a concept. It could be the fourth, fifth, or even sixth time, but it doesn’t matter to Doug. He will go over material as many times as it takes to make the student feel comfortable. I truly consider myself fortunate to have him as an instructor."
Service Excellence Award Finalist, Velma Clabaugh, Diane Mayne, Kathy Rice, Phyllis Butterworth, Jennie Shaffer, Megan Henning, Lea Anna Harrah, Jan Stoneburner, and Teresa Plummer, will receive a framed certificate in recognition of their student nomination.
