The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 12 people died in traffic accidents over the Memorial Day weekend.
The deaths came from 11 separate accidents.
The deaths included a Columbus man who was walking in the middle of Brice Road when he was hit by a SUV.
At least 2 of the six killed in automobiles failed to wear seat belts while 4 of the 5 killed on motorcycles were not wearing helmets.
The Patrol also arrested 588 for drunk driving, including 43 in District 2, which includes Marion, Wyandot, and Crawford counties.
